West Jordan Whiter Smiles

January 5th, 2009 by wells

West Jordan Pediatric Dentistry Wishing for a West Jordan whiter smile but not sure how to get it? New to Utah smile tooth whitening lingo? At Accessible Family Dentistry, we educate clients on the variety of Salt Lake City affordable teeth whiting treatments; from whitening trays to South Jordan teeth bleaching to Taylorsville opalescence whitening. We do Murray smile whitening every day.

Almost every toothpaste claims to whiten teeth, but as we age our teeth gradually turn yellow or gray, despite all the whitening toothpastes we use regularly. Tooth enamel, while one of the hardest substances in the body, is porous. Over time, the food and drinks that comes in contact with our teeth cause staining and discoloration. You probably have already discovered that a toothbrush cannot clean these microscopic pores.

Carbamide peroxide and hydrogen peroxide are the two main smile whitening ingredients. They can penetrate the outer layer of your teeth to remove the build-up, and help restore whitening to teeth. Call Accessible Family Dentistry at 801.982.0332 to schedule an appointment and we will explain the difference between these tooth bleaching ingredients and how they may affect your West Jordan smile whitening results.

Salt Lake City at-home teeth whitening products are probably not a good choice if you have crowns or veneers. You could end up with extremely uneven results or possible damage to your existing Utah cosmetic dentistry.

We know the best West Jordan teeth bleaching options and can recommend the perfect white smile solution for you.

At Accessible Family Dentistry, we hope to see you soon. Give us a call at 801.982.0332.

West Jordan Prepless Veneers

December 11th, 2008 by wells

West Jordan Prepless Veneers

One of the latest breakthroughs in West Jordan cosmetic dentistry is prepless veneers. Though thousands of South Jordan and Taylorsville smile restoration clients who have received traditional veneers are happy with the results, some Utah dental clients have delayed this procedure because they do not want to lose healthy tooth structure.

West Jordan prepless veneers are a less-invasive procedure for transforming Salt Lake City smiles. New Accessible Family Dentistry prepless veneers are incredibly thin shells which adhere to the face of teeth and require no removal of tooth enamel. Most West Jordan prepless veneers are about the thickness of two pieces of paper. Because the color is built into the veneers (instead of being applied after fabrication), they look like your natural teeth–only better!

Our experienced Utah ceramists are skilled artists. They create each custom West Jordan veneer with the optimum shape, color and thickness for your new smile. Another great feature of the Accessible Family Dentistry prepless veneers application procedure is that it requires no anesthesia or drilling.

If you are embarrassed by misaligned, discolored or broken teeth, Taylorsville prepless veneers may be a Utah smile restoration solution that you can feel good about.

Call Accessible Family Dentistry to learn more about West Jordan prepless veneers. It is the first step toward your dazzling new smile!

West Jordan Tooth Restoration: Dental Implants and Dental Bridges

November 7th, 2008 by wells

West Jordan Dental Implants and Dental Bridges

When my West Jordan clients ask me about West Jordan tooth restoration, I usually tell them about fixed (or ‘traditional’) dental bridges or tooth implants. A dental bridge is an artificial tooth which replaces a missing tooth. The false tooth (called a ‘pontic’) is fused to porcelain crowns on either side of the missing tooth.

Tooth replacement has been a highly requested procedure at my West Jordan dental practice. Patients from the Taylorsville area and Murray area have expressed concern about tooth replacement for many years. Most of my questions in the Salt Lake City area have to do with the strength of the tooth replacement, and durability.

Dental implants are also popular concern for my Salt Lake City tooth replacement patients. A dental implant consists of a titanium post surgically inserted into the jaw bone to replace the root of the missing tooth. The post integrates with the bone to provide a stable foundation for the replacement tooth.

After it has bonded with the bone (it usually takes three to six months), a smaller post is attached. This post extends above the gum line. The artificial tooth (crown) is then attached. The entire process takes several months, but consistently yields terrific results for West Jordan tooth restoration patients. My Utah cosmetic dentistry patients appreciate the fact that I stay up to date on the latest advancements in tooth replacement procedures.

Both Utah smile restoration options preserve or restore facial contour and allow you to talk and eat normally. Tooth replacements prevent adjoining teeth from gradually shifting and can help correct bite problems, too. Tooth implants and dental bridges can replace one or more missing teeth. Many Salt Lake City area dental patients have been treated successfully with these tooth restoration alternatives.

Call Accessible Family Dentistry and ask for Wells Wagner to schedule an evaluation for Utah tooth restoration. You can schedule your tooth restoration by calling us at 801.982.0332.

Healthy Teeth and Your Salt Lake City Diet

October 10th, 2008 by wells

Healthy Teeth and Your Salt Lake City Diet

Maintaining healthy teeth is an important concern for our local Salt Lake City residents. As your Doctor, it’s my job to help you understand how to care for your teeth and to keep them healthy.

Everyone in the Salt Lake City knows that maintaining healthy teeth requires regular daily brushing and flossing. Regular visits to your local Salt Lake City dental practice is also necessary to keep watch for cavities and to help you maintain proper dental hygiene. We often forget that maintaining a healthy diet can also be beneficial for the health of your teeth.

A Salt Lake City diet that includes foods that help your muscles and bones will also help you develop healthy gums and healthy teeth. Examples of local Salt Lake City foods to include in your diet include foods rich in vitamin B such as breads and cereals. Foods rich in vitamin C, usually fruits and vegetables, help improve the health of your gums. Zinc and magnesium are also good for the health of your teeth and are found in foods like lean beef, fish, and poultry.

All foods increase the production of saliva. Saliva is important to healthy teeth because it helps to maintain the pH balance in your mouth. Maintaining this balance helps keep your teeth and gums healthy. Foods high in fiber also encourage saliva production as does the chewing of sugar-free gum. Gum, however, can damage unhealthy teeth or pull out dental fillings, so always use caution when deciding whether to chew gum and which brand to chew.

Just as certain diet choices in the Salt Lake City area can be beneficial to the health of your teeth, others can be detrimental. Foods and drinks that are high in sugars are more likely to form the acids that attack your teeth and result in decay. And while table sugar is often associated with the formation of cavities, other sugars such as glucose, fructose, and maltose are also causes, and are often found in juices and sodas. Limiting the consumption of sugars to mealtimes lessens the amount of time your healthy teeth are exposed.

Making good diet choices and limiting between meal sugar consumption can improve the health of your teeth and gums.

If you would like to learn how to better care for your healthy teeth in the Salt Lake City area, contact Accessible Family Dentistry at 801.982.0332. We would love to hear from you.
